Trip to Arcachon ?

Let me take you away

With my boyfriend’s 30th birthday a week before my 29th, I honestly didn’t even realize I was entering my last twenty-something year. Probably for the best. But the good part is that we planned weeks ago to go see my dad in Arcachon and we jumped on the occasion to invite our friends and my bf’s family.

A little bit about me : I was born in beautiful Marseille and I was raised in the Bassin D’Arcachon. It means that I have several places I can call « home » and I love it.

An hour away from Bordeaux, Arcachon is a beautiful little town (« it’s a quiet village ») on the Atlantic coast, that is getting more and more popular every year. It’s famous in France for its oysters which are the BEST ! Add to this Bordeaux wine, a nice boat ride, and some pâté and you have the perfect week end.

Other famous attraction there : La Dune du Pyla. It’s the biggest sand dune of Europe. The view up there, with the forest on one side, the sand and then the ocean on the other side is just breathtaking but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Lesser known to outsiders, you have La Ville D’Hiver, which is the historical area of Arcachon. If you walk around, you will see the most beautiful houses that were built for rich people back in the 19th century, who were sick of pneumonia or asthma, for them to get the best treatment. Because the air in Arcachon is a mix of pine tree and sea water it makes it amazing for you if you have trouble breathing and even if you don’t, you will have the best of night sleep here and you will feel full of energy the next morning.

I also highly recommend to take a boat ride and go to Cap Ferret on the other side of the bay, rent some bikes and just ride along the coast right where the bay and the ocean meet. It’s fantastic (and again, the view…) then, on your way back to the boat, stop at Frédélian and get the best waffle ever.

Have a nice drink at the best hotel/restaurant La Corniche and diner with your feet literally in the sand at the Club Plage Pereire.

  1. Magnifique reportage. L’essentiel quand on parle du Bassin est de bien en retranscrire son esprit. C’est le cas!

  2. What a simply beautiful little place in France. Water, green forest and the air with these aromas, sounds divine! Great pics to illustrate your home:)

  3. This little town reminds me of our favorite escape here in Ontario called Sauble Beach. I love the fact that the air is so good there. I have some breathing and allergy problems living in the city in Toronto so that would be some great escape to visit this town. Perhaps one day when I make it to France.

  4. I’ve been to France 🇫🇷 seen Paris, Cannes, nice, st tropes… next visit definitely thinking of Arcachon. Looks so gorgeous and stunning. And ur pic of the oysters is just fab
